Nix, where are you from in Canada? I'm from Toronto.

deferred- from south america.

deferred- Nepal; mixed feelings

deferred:( poland

I didnt apply EA, I got deferred from Columbia tho

does anyone happen to know how many middle-eastern applicants yale has accepted during this early action round?

I think 1 from UAE. Ask amb3r. Poor her!

and i think 1 from palestine as well..

haha ayush.........mixed feelings

From what part of south america are you, izzywizzy?

Wow... from CC context, it looks like Yale doesn't admit too many internationals... Yeah right, need-blind and context-blind my *** (sry for ranting, I know CC isn't representative, but still)

You ranted at the Columbia board and here.. To be honest, these American universities are kind enough to give us aid.. I know they're just boosting their diversities.. but they are still giving us hope of attending

I have to agree with jhl.

sry guys, that's true :(. I know that their aid is generous and all, but the fact is that admission is STILL harder for internationals since there are a bunch of apps at top schools... :(.
Yeah, I know sometimes I'm not rational at the face of injustice, but please look at my ranting with benevolent eyes.

PS: Brazilian, you're a Brazilian living in el salvador? huh... parent's job I guess (?)

Kowloon: while I believe there are unofficial limits or quotas -- I firmly believe that the process is need blind. Really. The Y adcoms have no vested interest to admit/deny people based on their finances -- the university spent $3B over the last decades -- a few more million here or there for financial aid any given year doesn't faze them.

As a matter of fact, near the end of January, Y is slated to make a major announcement to make Y more affordable to US middle class families (much in line w/Harvard's recent announcement). Expect their annual FA budget to jump another $20-25 million.

In case you didn't hear, Y's endowment continued its stratospheric climb. For last year, it topped the large endowment growth rates -- going from $18B to $23B.

T26E4, I meant that being an international itself hurts one's chances, since there are so many of us applying to top tiers.

And yeah, I still do thank places like HYP that are need blind even for foreigners.

Definitely being an international hurts.. those are American unis which are meant for the Americans.. we are there to diversify the campus.. to help educate them about our cultures..

Kowloon...yeah I'm a Brazilian living in El Salvador because my dad is working here now. x)

jhl...we are there not only to educate them about our cultures.I think they see the higher education also as chance to improve the image of the USA abroad.American univeristies are now diplomatic instruments too.

deferred - Germany. Any other Germans here?

bollocks. I thought being international would give me an advantage.
