Hey Class of 2012...You can post here about Colleges that you thought were generous toward internationals, but found out the opposite after you applied. This may help the prospective Class of 2013 students a lot!

U Chicago …

U Chicago

Villanova

U Richmond

Boston U

It varies on how good the candidate is. The colleges listed above HAVE accepted international students with significant amount of aids.

But what matters is what colleges give you full aid and which ones give you partial aid.

^^My post referred to colleges with full aid.

U Chicago and U Richmond do give full aid.

“You can post here about Colleges that you thought were generous toward internationals, but found out the opposite after you applied.”

That might apply to pretty much all colleges that give fin aid to internationals…

do they really? i don’t know oh uchicago but havent ever heard of urichmond giving full aid.:(

An advie for OP: Yeah, the posts in this thread will be helpful. But, search the website of each school you are interested to find the correct info. If you have any questions , email them. ASk the colleges about the avg aid given to intl students and the range of aid awarded. You can also ask if anyone from your country were given significant aid in the past.

U of R have given full aid to intl. student in the past. I also believe, some intl std got this year too. Btw, I don;'t think there are many colls which give full aid (full ride) to intl students.

Couldn’t agree more. The statistics you see are of the students that were accepted and were offered aid. So maybe we were one of the ones who were rejected that doesn’t make the college shell out any less of aid. They just found better matching applicants.

^^^ absolutely.

Yeah you guys are right that this may apply to almost all colleges. But most colleges would either accept you and meet your demonstrated financial need, or reject you altogether. Share your experiences about colleges that say that they will meet the full demonstrated need of a student, once a student is accepted. However, you were accepted with poor or no financial aid package. A friend of mine was accepted to University of Richmond with every little aid, even though he applied for almost a full ride! He eventually got admitted somewhere else with full scholarship.

Each college has its own way of calculating need and UoR is just need blind but doesnt claim to meet the full need, if I am not wrong.

Of course each college has its own way to calculate need, but it’s ridiculous if a college expects someone whose combined family income per year is around $ 15000 to pay more than $ 40000 per year, even if it doesn’t claim to meet the full need. It’s worse than a rejection. UoR did something like that as far as I know. What was it thinking? Anyways I dont want to start a argument here. I just felt that some colleges are not clear on their financial aid policy on internatinonal students. So for those who are new to the application process, this thread might have been a good point to start.

I am not aware of any college that does that. UoR never stated that it would meet the needs of its international students. Here is the link [University of Richmond: Need-Based Aid for Non-U.S. Citizens](http://admissions.richmond.edu/financial/nonus.html)

I don’t see why everyone is so sore about UoR.

How about toning down on the bickering and amping up on the help? :D

You are not helping here either. :p

Its not bickering. I just put across my views about UR. No hard feelings.

Well I haven’t applied to colleges and asked for aid!

But I do know one college to add to the list - NYU.

NYU, also, doesn’t come into the picture. Its official Class of 2014 is the lamest ever
NYU clearly states this :

And this :

Well there’s no way that I’m gonna apply to NYU, so your jibe doesn’t really work :p
