How fast is the wireless internet in stonybrook? like the form of the speed when you download from firefox browser?

we have the campus-wide WolfieNet Secure/WolfieNet Open found in almost every spot of all academic buildings, and found in each residential building. In your Dorms you have the option of wired or wireless access at broadband speeds. I haven’t experienced any slow bandwidth yet and I’m guessing that the speed should be somewhere around the 2-8 Mbps download/2-3 Mbps upload link. Wireless is most of the time slower than wired, especially if you not receiving the best signal

The speed depends where you are. There are locations in the main library where I can hardly receive signal, while in the Humanities building the signal is strong. I also have had numerous issues connecting to the WolfieNet-Secure network. I’d give it a 6/10

Fast enough for anything you’ll be doing. You won’t have full signal everywhere, but I never had issues.

yes, the implementation of WolfieNet still has many dead spots. In some parts deep into the reading rooms of the library i lacked signal also. I hate how Javits still lacks WolfieNet. Most lecture halls outside of Javits, rooms in humanities, computer science enjoy very good signals. Overall i think it provides good service comparable to many other schools I visited. Its hard to eliminate every single dead spot.
