Internet Streaming

So, I've seen this question only a few times, but the answers varied and I'm hoping for a more concise one.

I know for a fact that illegal downloading from sites such as Limewire and Bittorrent will get one's internet access shut down and one will be faced with consequences. So I don't plan on torrenting, but streaming shows and movies from putlocker and sockshare is kinda my thing. If I stick to streaming online and not downloading whatsoever, I'm not going to, for lack of better phrasing, get into trouble, right? Specifically, looking for any information on Texas state universities.

Thank you for the help!

If you want a concise answer, just email the IT department in your university. Otherwise, just to let you know streaming is downloading because you are loading videos to view which requires high speeds to load without lag. What you are probably wondering is whether it is okay to legally download large files without getting in trouble (like downloading a game from Steam or streaming from Netflix), which is legal but to make sure ask your university.
