Internship at chamber of commerce

Hello all,

I have recently been offered an internship to be an assistant to a CEO at a chamber of commerce of my city. The position in unpaid, but it sounds like fun (and is very close to where I live) and has very low and flexible hours. Would such a position be beneficial to have on my application resume to a respectable university (for MBA)? I thought it might because of the attention one might give to the word “CEO” in the “assistant to CEO of city of [name].”

I’ll also be honest, I am really not too certain what the heck the chamber of commerce is supposed to do. I understand that they are supposed to somehow promote business activity, economic growth, blah, blah, blah, but what exactly does that entail? One reason for me considering this position is because I thought that it might help me meet some business people in my area, which is important since I am going into commercial real estate brokerage. Will it help me meet such people?

Thanks.

Tomorrow is the last day that I can respond to this opportunity, so I would highly appreciate any and all insights you guys might be able to provide.
