Will this internship help me get ahead of other EECS majors attempting to transfer to Berkeley?
How can I fully benefit from this experience?

Will start my 2014-2015 fall semester at a local California community college and My fathers friend who is also my teacher at a religious organization works at Qualcomm and has offered me an internship whenever I need it.
I am an African American Muslim by the way.

Will an internship related to your major help during admissions? Well, it certainly won’t hurt. Yes, it’ll probably boost your chances a bit. But if the only reason you’d consider taking the internship is because of admissions, are you sure you want to be an EECS major? You don’t sound super interested in the opportunity…

You are so right failure622. I should be swift to take the opportunity seemingly that comes rarely. I just didn’t know how hard the internship would be and what i would be doing there? With little to no experience in the field It kinda made me nervous to take the opportunity not knowing what to expect.

You are very fortunate to have this opportunity. Take advantage of this for sure. build the experience + do well in school and EECS will not be out of reach. In terms of being prepared for the internship, find out more about what kind of positions are available to you and go from there. I’m sure they won’t throw you into a role you are not qualified for.
