Internship chances

I'm hoping to get some kind of government internship for next summer. I'm current an undergrad at a big 10 school majoring in International Politics major with a 3.03 GPA. I'm also a veteran, having served 5 years in the Navy and worked for the Department of the Army for 2.5 years as a civilian. I wondering if anyone has any idea as to what my chances of obtaining an internship anywhere in the government are.

Speaking as a current civil servant: “Chances” for college are ridiculous, and “chances” for internships are even more ridiculous. Nobody has any idea what your “chances” are.

Figure out what fields you’re interested in pursuing as a career. Figure out what government agencies do work related to those fields. Start looking at internship programs connected to those agencies. For example, the Student Conservation Association partners with the NPS, USDA-FS, BLM, USFWS, etc. to provide thousands of interns every year. They were my “foot in the door.”
