I am still looking for internship, like some other people I started very slow..I have applied to about 10 companies so far and no companies has contacted me yet.

Could anyone give me some inputs about good companies to intern for chemical engineering major?

I need to apply to 10-20 more companies.
Thanks!

Oil companies love to hire chemical engineers for the refining process. I know that my company has definitely cut back on hiring interns/co-ops, but oil companies are probably more resistant to the economy than most. From what I know, a chemical engineer co-op at a refinery can expect to make about $30/hour, probably with good potential for a lot of overtime during turnarounds. Interns probably make a little bit less than that. I'd say you should first apply to all of the refiners...can't imagine pay is better anywhere else and probably the most likely to be hiring right now.

Other options of course chemical companies such as Dow, pharmaceuticals, etc. Although Dow is currently in a world of trouble so I guess they would have to cut back hiring now as well. I'm guessing that the medical companies are changing their tunes based on recent news reports as well.

It's already March. You need to think of what industries usually hire ChemE's, look at the Fortune 500 list for those industries, and start applying. The economy is terrible and anything out there is going to be snatched up fast. Good luck.
