During the summer of 2014 a friend and I want to live in NYC. We already have an apartment set up and just need to figure out jobs and/or internships. This will be the summer after our senior year of high school and we will be 18. My main question is how unlikely is it that an 18 year old would be able to find a paying internship that would (ideally) help me to pursue international relations or something that has to do with the world. Interning at the UN would be awesome but from what I've read they don't even take undergrads. I have a 3.4 GPA and have always been interested in global affairs and hope to either attend a university in NYC or somewhere on the east coast. Any information would be fantastic thank you!!

I don’t think it’s very likely at all. Paid internships for people who have yet to enter their freshman year are few and far between no matter which field you’re considering. The good thing is, you have a lot of time to find the few that may exist. Your best bet will be to rely on people you know introducing you (contact anyone and everyone!).
