Internship Opportunities At Tulane?

Hey Guys,

I am thinking about going into Accounting as a career and I would like to know how good Tulane is at arranging internships not only in the New Orleans area but places such as Chicago, Austin, New York, Boston etc.? Also hows the business district in New Orleans is it respected?

Thanks

Any Help is Appreciated

I had a similiar concern for my S. We are from NY and I was concerned with how well connected NO would be here in the North east. My best advice would be to call the career development center. I did, and spoke to Barry. He was very nice and stated that of course the connections for internships and job recruitment are best there in NO. Although Tulane was affliated with some large network that included Harvard and Yale for job recruitment and internships throughout the rest of the country. He wasn’t over optimistic about either job recruitment nor internships opportunities given the economy and his best advice was to network amongst your peers. He mentioned that since Tulane is a school with great geographic diversity, you can meet kids from all over the country whose parents may have connections in your field of choice and region of the country.
This was not really the answer that I was looking for, quite frankly, however, it was honest. Given the economy I believe that only the strong will survive and perhaps kids do need to the learn the art of networking sooner rather than later. I think its a realistic approach for kids who don’t want to stay in NO, after graduation.
I would definitely call and find out what is available for your major. I was concerned with engineering. Hence the answer could be very different if you are interested in a different field of study.
Good Luck!

Thanks! bump?
