Internship or Job

which one will be better for college, which one looks better, any advice?

depends on the nature of each… i would say internship though

along with this does working at a family business look less impressive then working at a normal place

no i would say equally. but it still depends on what your actually doing i guess and how much time you put into it. i think working at a family business looks great actually

I’d say internships are a plus for the networks, but if it is for your family I’m not sure you’d get the same advantage.

How could anyone possibly answer this question with so little information? Anyone who answers the question ‘which is better? internship or job?’ with a blanket A or B answer doesn’t know what they’re talking about. Plain and simple.

Internship probably, but if you have a job related to what you want to do, like working at a vet’s office if you want to do anything with animals, then that’s good too.

They’re both great. We really need more information about what you’re actually doing.

A good job is better than a bad internship and a good internship is better than a bad job. That’s all I can tell you without more info. :P

internshippp-I did last summer and I got into my top choice–COLBY!! Wooohooo

im either going to work at my families restaurant as some base position or i can take an internship with a business law firm, i actually think i might do both but the only thing is i am looking to apply to a business school possibly for entrapenureship so i was wondering which one i should focus on more and weather an internship with a lawyer would be relevant

^ I would do the internship

It depends on what you’re doing and why you’re doing it. For instance, working a job – any job including a menial one or being in the family biz-- to help support your family is a much more impressive activity than is answering the phones on an “internship” arranged through family contacts.

If money isn’t a concern, select the internship or job that you are most interested in and will take the most advantage of. That’s what colleges care about.
