<p>Okay, I've got to deicde whether I want to do a big internship next summer or attend some sort of program.</p>
<p>The internship would be at MorganStanley in New York. I have a family member who is really high up the ladder there, so I'd have a pretty nice internship. It also pays, but it would be 10 weeks long.</p>
<p>If I didn't do the internship, I'd probably end up doing some sort of summer program at one of the Ivies for 4-6 weeks.</p>
<p>I'm really open to both things, so I'm just wondering which one would look better for college apps. I know that next summer is a long way off, but I have to decide pretty soon.</p>

<p>yes, unless you got into one of the "competitive/prestigious" summer programs. that internship might hint at wealth in your family, which is usually frowned upon in terms of ECs, but it sounds awesome.</p>
<p>I think it would compliment what I've already done. I did an internship last year at a local company for 6 weeks and worked at my dad's office. As well, I've opened up a pretty successful business.</p>

<p>eh, well, ivy summer programs can hint at wealth too since they cost around $2000-$4000 typically.</p>

<p>I'm doing an internship with a city council member this summer, and a summer program in oxford next year. Try the internship first, then the summer program if you can. The work is a good thing to mention in your program application as it shows you can work very hard and it's especially good if it relates to the subject you want to pursue at the program.</p>
