Bassonapus, if you’re interested, I’m currently doing a veterinary internship, I actually have to go in tomorrow :). It’s a lot of fun, and rewarding. I can’t go into mega detail, but to find if your local veterinary hospital is accepting, call them. I called about 3 or 4 places before landing a spot. You have to set up an interview for internship scheduling and etc. But if you have any more questions, PM where I can explain things in more detail.

If you’re class of 2015 and seeking internships out of genuine interest and not a desire to score points on college apps, feel free to PM me.

Also, you should have at least taken freshman bio and some Chem.

I have some documents on research prepared for my club that may interest you.

Internships and research projects are for students who are deeply interest in that field of study. Doing internships and research just to score points in college is a BIG no no. If you do that, you’re wasting the mentors’ time and the doctor’s time. Ecouter is right.

@Penguin trufax!

@Fantasy Yeah, I totally agree with you. It’s so disrespectful to the people who take you in and teach you so much in the hopes of helping you to become a good scientist.

@Penguin. Lol and Chem actually is very good to know if you want to really understand the concepts. For instance, in epigenetics, the removal of a certain functional group has effects that make sense only if you look at it from a chemical perspective.

@Penguinone

I don’t think you understand.

It’s not whether someone has the academic capabilities to do research it’s all about exposure and interest. Those people doing the research wasted the mentors’ time. Sure, it looks good on resumes but what if during a college interview, an interviewer sees this research internship and asks about it, and you would just say, “I did it, because it looks better on the resume.”

The scientific internship I’m applying to soon won’t accept anyone who’s only doing it for college admission.

Point taken, though lots of people don’t like learning stuff on their own.

And no, not really. It’s hard to find info about independent internships.

I want to do an internship/research because i want to actually pursue a career in medicine

Do u guys know where to apply for this?

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using CC

Bump

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using CC

I mean, nobody can really give you an answer because we don’t know where you live, what exactly you’re looking for, etc.

The best place is just to try calling up local areas. Call up the local hospital or clinic. If they aren’t accepting anybody, ask them if they know where you can find someone. Talk to your biology or anatomy teachers. Go to the nearest university, and ask them if there are any opportunities for a dedicated student.

Bump plz

I came across this thread and I was wondering if you managed to obtain a position somewhere?

@ecouter… does your name mean listen :)? hehe…

HEY but in response yo your question Seth, just ask your local hospital. In the city I live in theres 3 huge hospitals that i know of, and 1 of them definitely allows interns to work with the nurses and stuff… Just ask, go in and see a doctor or something (call the office) ask to speak to the doctor and talk to him/her about it. :D
