Internship senior year

Hi,

I posted this somewhere else, but circumstances have changed a bit and I’m still concerned. I just started my senior year, and am applying to a highly selective school early decision. However, I am only taking three academic classes this year- AP Statistics, IB English, and AP Computer Science Principles. I am also taking yoga (required gym credit), and leaving school halfway through the day to go to an internship in DC at a law office some days, and to my part time job at the Library of Congress on other days. I’m trying to register for AP World online, but it might not work out.
I’m worried that not taking more academic classes will hurt my chances. I’ve taken all five core classes at honors, AP, and IB level for the past three years. Will my internship and job be a positive factor or will schools look down on my schedule?

An internship is good but a light academic load will likely hurt.

Internships come second to course load, rigor, and grades, if not way after those. If you have an internship and a part time job, you may want to look into leaving one or the other in order to focus on your actual schoolwork.
