Internships for Community College Students

I've been searching the internet for business related internships for college students, but all of them require an applicant from a four year college/university. Does anyone know where I should start looking for one in the San Francisco Bay Area that will meet my qualifications?

Paid or unpaid doesn't matter to me, I just want to get some experience

Hey suprafreshkid. Before recommending places to search, have you investigated what your community college offers in terms of internships/jobs?

I know that my CC has a specific program that counsels students on resume-building and helps them in their search for internships. Of course, you get college credit too. So…in my opinion, it would be best to use your CC as a filter for you, that way, you can find a decent intership that fits your needs AND get college credit for it.

Otherwise, I would visit [Barefoot Student - #1 College Work Portal](http://www.barefootstudent.com) , sometimes you can find fascinating gigs/opportunities/internships, but I mostly recommend this site because its a great tool to help you actually GET that internship. Why? Because you get to browse through LOADS of student profiles (who are also looking for jobs) and literally see what they have done to get where they are today. Basically- you get to see their resumes.

I know that sounds like a drip - to look through other people’s resumes - but I honestly found it very constructive for me. I get to see the resumes of people who have graduated as Theatre majors from USC, or Neuroscience majors at UC Berkeley…and get a glimpse of what kind of jobs they land, and HOW MANY they land. These guys are competitive!! However, you realize that they’ve had to go through some lousy secretarial/assistant jobs before they got anything noteworthy.

In other words, it kind of builds some self-esteem. And, more importantly, it will help you build a competitive resume.

Anyway, good luck! And boy, I would sell every limb just to be in your position right now (in San Francisco, trying to survive)… don’t give up :)
