I want to major in IR. Are there any internships/summer programs that would help me gain more knowledge/experience of IR?

I know there are plenty of summer programs for high schoolers to do model UN. NSLC, NYLC are two.

At the college level, if you go to school in DC, you'll have amazing opportunities for internships with the major offices (White House, State Dept, Capitol Hill) and other smaller lesser known ones (think tanks, NGOs, non-profits, policy research). A lot of internships in IR are targeted towards undergrads, but I could be wrong. If you don't go to school in DC, there are some universities that offer DC semesters or summer sessions where you can intern and take class.

Wow, those high school/middle school programs look great! Do you know of any others? What there admission rates are? Is it hard to get into?

I don't know of others. I'm sure you can search "leadership conference" and you'll get a good list of them. Not really sure on the admissions rates and the selectivity. My guess is that they want you to come, so it won't be very selective. They might require a nomination from a teacher. You can always talk to your teachers or guidence counselors about the strength of the programs and the application process.

Good luck! I went on one and it was really fun.

are u sure they would want a seventh grader as an intern?

not that im trying to insult ur age, which i know u are extra-extremely touchy about. im just saying that i think u might have to be older to qualify.

I wasn't thinking for now, I meant in high school.

ILuvA's, aren't you an eighth grader?
