Internships

Are there many internships made available for business and accounting students?
Are students also able to line up a job before graduation?

I have the same question but for computer engineering. Are the internships only in the area right around SLO or could one be found farther south in the LA area?

Internships are often out of area. There are some but not that many businesses around SLO that are in a position to offer internships. Especially in engineering fields.

Business and Engineering are very well represented for internships and co-ops. No worries guys.

I’m currently a third year engineering student at Cal Poly and am doing an internship in the Silicon Valley. Most of my friends who have done/are doing internships tend to go outside of SLO, but there are a few companies in town that hire engineering interns such as Mindbody and CDM Technologies.

At career fairs, there are plenty of companies that come so the chances of finding the position that you want are not bad. There are also a lot of positions that companies, themselves, post on Cal Poly’s job site, therefore there are many ways to obtain a job.

Im pretty Cal Poly SLO has a guranteed internship program with certain companies, but if they dont usually most companies like the interns from Poly.

Cal Poly does not have guaranteed internship programs.

Tizz is totally right. There is no guaranteed internships at Ca Poly.

But numerous tech and accounting firms heavily recruit interns and co-ops at CP, so as long as one keeps his GPA at a decent level, securing an intern gig should not be a huge challenge at all.

CP career center does an excellent job getting companies from SF and LA area to recruit on campus.

CP SLO doesn’t have an agreement with certain places, but the place i will be interning has a certain amount of spots set aside for Cal Poly students so CP SLO students are guranteed those spots.
