Internships!!!!!!

What are the internship opportunities like for GSers? Without getting into specifics, does Columbia, in general have strong interest ship connections? Anyone know of any well established companies that people have interned at?

bump. I want to know this too, especially internships in finance.

Ditto. There’s not much info on their website sigh. Hey @GSTourGuides, any insight!?

I have just graduated from Columbia GS and the internship opportunities are exactly what you would expect at an Ivy League. I had 2 summer internships at a top wall street bank and a few good buddies of mine also interned, although not all took full time offers as you basically sacrifice your life to be rich.

Ultimately it just depends on you, the opportunities are there but plenty of students, regardless which school they are in, have the attitude like they have “arrived” and didn’t work as hard to secure a job. Pretty much every company on earth will take a look at you.

This hot topic on whether or not GS is prestigious, mostly occurs on this forum because once you’re in, you’re treated the same as everybody else. In 3 years, nobody has ever disrespected me for being in GS and I have plenty of friends that goes to CC, SEAS and Barnard etc.

TLDR; I have landed interviews with every single dream company I wanted. You can believe whatever you want about GS but I’m extremely grateful to have studied at GS.

@jim008, thanks for your response. It’s wonderful to hear great things about GS! I look forward to attending in the fall :). I just was a little skeptical of the internship opportunities since it is so important to me, because I don’t see much about it (like partner companies or anything like that) on their site. Congrats on graduating!

That’s not really true. You will be sporting this credential for the rest of your life, and on all such occasions when it is presented for evaluation the evaluator must consider how to treat it. As there are inummerable potential evaluators out there, there is no way to predict with certainty how they will all react. The last few years GS has been sporting some fancy low admit percentages, but that is a pretty recent turn of events. My guess is many subsequent evaluators that may be familiar generally with Columbia GS would probably not be aware of this turn of events.

@monydad Were you rejected by GS? oh man, you have so many posts here…

My GS tour guide is starting at MBB after graduation.
