Interview advice?

Hi! I have an off-campus interview for Bryn Mawr next week. This will be my first college interview, so any advice on what to wear, how to prepare, what to bring, etc. would be much appreciated… thanks! :)

I’m not sure if this message will be received before your interview, but thought I’d chime in with info based on our daughter’s experience ( she interviewed last year and is now attending Bryn Mawr). First, our daughter interviewed on campus, so I’m not sure if it makes any difference with off-campus interviews, but here goes…
She dressed rather casual, but neatly (nice jeans, blouse with sweater over top). Preparation: Read the literature you’ve received or read through the website, looking at things that interest you (whether it be specific majors, athletics, clubs that are active on campus, etc). It might be good to think of a question that you’d like to ask, which you could not find enough details online or in their literature to satisfy you. Don’t ask questions just for the sake of asking. Check with Admissions regarding anything you should bring along for the interviewer. Our daughter interviewed later in the process and already had a file started at the college by then. She didn’t bring anything with her to the interview. More importantly, if Bryn Mawr is a school you have sincere interest in, let it show. Tell them what draws you to Bryn Mawr. Don’t try to be what you think they’re looking for. Be yourself.

Thanks so much for the advice! I actually interviewed yesterday- I think it went pretty well.
And I’ll definitely consider your input as I prep for the rest of my interviews.

Best of luck to you. If you have any questions regarding Bryn Mawr, I’m sure our daughter would be willing to offer her perspective on it. She had the good fortune of meeting a few alumni while going through the college search process and it really helped her get a better picture of college life at Bryn Mawr. Let us know and we’ll put you in touch with her, via email. Again, good luck.
