my interviewer lives almost 40 miles away. i have my interview scheduled for saturday and it's supposed to snow the next two days... is it even worth going through the trouble...? if possible, can i get an interview from someone who lives closer?

If due to dangerous roads, it would be better to reschedule, do reschedule. Otherwise, take the interview. If you turn it down, there may not be another alum closer who can interview you.

Last year, a student who lived in a rural area posted about turning down an inteview because it was a 2-hour drive away and his parents were out of the country, and said he couldn't leave his city. He was not able to get another interview. After he posted on here and learned how showing up for such an interview could demonstrate his independence, he tried to interview with the original interview, but that person no longer had time. The student ended up being rejected.

Not getting interviewed won't hurt you if due to lack of interviewers, you weren't offered an interview. However, if you are offered an interview, you should take the opportunity.

Older S had to ride 2 hours to have an interview with the Ivy that he applied to.

thanks. my parents can drive me so i feel better now.

northatarmom I want to ask you about an international interview. In the H web it states

"Applicants from these countries (unlisted)will be contacted if the Admissions Committee requires more information."

I am bit worried that Harvard may only interview students that they are interested in. Am I being overly concerned?
I asked few on this board and they dont think so but what do you think? do you think not getting an interview is a bad sign? thank you
