No interview yet?

anyone have haven't had his/her interview yet? i was contacted but due to geographical issues the alumni decided to get me another interviewer closer to where i live....we talked it out of course and he said he got an "ok" from the adcom and will contact another interviewer....however, i haven't been contacted at all after that...it's almost March...what should I do? i'm seriously considerly calling Harvard and ask them what's going on...

the interview is required, bythe way.

Kron,
It sounds like you live in an area in which there aren't many alum. In that case, it may be difficult or impossible for you to be interviewed, which will not count against you.

It's important to realize that alumni interviews exist only due to the presence of alumni who are willing to volunteer their time doing this. This is not something that Harvard has control of.

Also, due to the fact that 2,000 more students applied this year than last year, the alumni schools committees that handle the interviewing are overburdened this year, and may not be able to interview all candidates, even in the US.

Is there no way that you could meet with the alum who contacted you? I am guessing that would be your best chance for an interview. I remember that there was a student who posted earlier about not being able to travel to an interview because his parents were out of town. If that student is you, I suggest that you talk with your parents and see if you can negotiate with them a way for you to travel to the interview. Perhaps, for instance, your parents would allow you to go if you went with another responsible adult. That may be the only way that you can be interviewed by Harvard.

Alum are busy and also are volunteers, who understandably may not be willing to take their own time to travel quite a distance to interview you. They already are committing a lot of their time to interviewing and writing interview reports.

Yep, that student was me.....and my parents are still out of the country...I understand that alum are busy because after they are from Harvard....I will call my parents and try to find someone who would be willing to drive me to the original interviewer (about a 4 hours drive). I'm guessing my best bet is to call Harvard and ask if they've already looked into my issue. Will they mind if I call now?...because I thought that the deadline for calling about an interview was Feb. 15...

You can still call that Harvard adcoms. Probably your best chance for getting an interview would be to see if you can connect with the original alum who called you. You also could call that person directly. If you can arrange an interview with the person, make sure that he or you lets Harvard know in case Harvard is still trying to line up another alum to interview you at your place.
