Does anyone know how much the interview helps? My d had one with a senior (student) and both said it went very well. She was much more interested in Brandies after talking to him since she had regarded it as possibly too close to home at first. She took all AP’s and honors this year (3 AP’s) and next year will do the same. 2050 SAT but is retaking and 760 lit and 710 US Hist SAT II will work all summer in a research lab and does a lot of theater. School doesn’t do GPA. Thanks.

Having an interview helps. It demonstrates interest in the school, which Brandeis values. Having the interviewer write good things about your daughter is also a plus. By itself, an interview won't get your daughter into Brandeis, but it could make the difference in the admissions decision. So far, it sounds like your daughter has done the right thing(s) in this context.

Your daughter's scores are in the ballpark for Brandeis applicants. Getting a better SAT I score will improve her chances, but she's competitive as they stand. So go for it and good luck!

As far as proximity to home goes, our philosophy is that once you're out of the house, you're out......unless you have parents who are inclined to drop by regularly.

BTW, if your daughter hasn't yet written a thank you letter to her interviewer, encourage her to do so. It's a nice gesture and provides another opportunity for her to express her interest in and enthusiasm for the school.

thanks - my d actually wrote a thank you note with no prompting the day after the interview- maybe I'm doing something right :)

Sure sounds that way. Good luck to your daughter.

She has as good a chance as anybody. Good luck, i'd say the odds are with her as opposed to against her!

My son got in with a 2050. He didn't have an interview, as at the time we weren't seriously considering it. He got in with a $100,000 academic scholarship!!! Good luck!!

hey, ur daughter sounds in a good spot
see if she can get her SAT's near 2100

with that and similar stats i got a $208,000 MLK Scholarship
