I just received a call from Brandeis and they scheduled me an interview on Tuesday at 4 pm. By phone. I’m not really one of those people who talk on the phone much. For those of you who have sat through an interview, what was it like? What questions did he or she ask? What questions should I ask (I have a few in mind actually)? I’d appreciate the help. =)

Back to add something. I'm not sure why, but my interview will be done with someone at Brandeis instead of an alumnus/a in my area. Not sure if that's a good thing.

ask about the quality of the libraries. (that question amazed my interviewer b/c it showed my concern for academics.)
just don't ask questions that can be answered by looking at the guide books.
I had an alumni interview, so I could ask questions about the alumni's personal experiences. I don't know if you can do so with somebody from brandeis.

I don't know if i'd ask about the quality of the library...My interviewer and i had a joke about kids who ask those types of questions...Keep in mind whether this is a college admission officer or alum. You have to go about the interview in two different ways. An alum is much more laid back and relaxed and more of a discussion setting than a college admission officer. On the other hand a college admission officer is gonna be sticking up for u when they decide whereas the alum just writes a few little things that are far less meaningful

Thanks for the advice. The interview went better than I expected. He asked questions like:

What classes am I taking this year?
What classes did I take my junior year?
What is my favorite/least favorite subject?
What's the one thing I wouldn't be able to live without?
Why do I want to attend Brandeis?

He also said two things he looks for in an applicant are intellect and passion. We laughed a lot; I enjoyed myself. The pessimist in me is saying, "That was horrible!", but eh. I'll just wait and see. :)

My interviewer sucked.. haha. She brought her 2 year old daughter and we were in a Starbucks, so her daughter got up on the table in between us and started dancing while her mom continued to talk around her. Apparently it didn't go as badly as I thought, because I got in.

I haven't gotten a response yet but I thought my interview went really well; I interviewed at an alum's house nearby where I live and the most difficult question she asked me was if there was some kind of social problem that I would like to change, and how I would make this change. She was really nice though, and told me that I gave her "hope for mankind." No joke. This boosted my self-esteem a bit though. Hope I get in!
