Just wondering.......

No, it isn't.

EDIT: Sorry, the forum post order problem is rampant today...

Hey! What are you doing up there? Anyways thank you! I'm wondering because I called my EC today and he said to complete parts 1 and 2 of my application but I don't have to submit it yet or something like that before I can arrange an interview. Idk, I probably misunderstood, I'll just call him again to verify.

I had my interview in September and didn't even start my application until the end of October LOL so I don't think it matters either way.

My advice would be to complete part 1 (personal info, and pay the fee) so they have a file started for you when your EC's evaluation comes in. Then take your time to do part II.

There is no requirement in most countries to complete any part of the application before the interview (India and China are exceptions). That being said, it does help if you have done some research prior to the interview. I have had students having early interviews who have asked "So what majors are offered at MIT?" which is really something that could have been looked up in 10 mins on the MIT website.

As long as you know why you are applying, then you should be fine whenever you hold it.
