Interview Date

Hey all, my interviewer contacted me couple days ago. Our interview is scheduled the weekend before Thanksgiving. Is that too late? Would a late interview hurt my chance? Should I try to reschedule it for an earlier date? Thanks!

Why would your interviewer choose a date that was “too late”?

But would the admission office read my files before the interview report is in?

Harvard’s Admissions Committee is comprised of about 40 members, half of whom are teaching faculty. The faculty cannot meet when classes are in session, so the full committee starts it’s meetings the day after fall classes have ended. If you look at the above calendar, that means the full committee begins meeting on December 4th and probably goes until December 10th. So, your interview report will be received prior to the full committee meetings, so no worries.

I see, thank you! But do you still think that having an earlier interview would help?

No. In fact, I can see you definitely want it later as that gives you less time to fulminate on how it went.

You’re overthinking this. Relax. I guarantee you 1,000s of Ivy applicants will be nervously chatting in coffee shops on Nov 28 and 29 all over the country.
