I just scheduled my interview with a pomona alumnus, and until I did this, I was not the least bit nervous...but the thing is, it's in TWO DAYS! (GASPS BIG TIME). .. . . . .And my friend from nyc said that she had to do all this preparation and stuff and i'm sort of freaking out b/c i have two days to do it, although that's technically one since i'm busy all tomorrow...sooo...i have no time lol. Any advice on what to do? And, also, does this affect the admission process at all? If you have a lower test store, does this help make up? Enhance the application? Thanks :D Need relief lol

i haven't done an interview yet, but i guess the only advice i can give is to relax and be yourself during the interview.

i heard that they are pretty casual, so you shouldn't have to worry TOO much. lol

I also interviewed with an alumnus. Don't worry too much about it. Be ready to answer the questions that any admissions officer would ask of you. Have questions to ask your interviewer to keep it interesting. Be sincere. I had a decent SAT score, nowhere near 1600 back when that was used, so I think it helped me out a lot. Be respectful, funny and whatever else you think would help you out.

To soothe your nerves, my interviewer told me that he had been interviewing for years (he was in his 50's) and that no one he had interviewed had ever made it, then he chuckled. I thought it was hilarious... And THEN, while leaving the Starbucks, he saw me almost hit another car in the parking lot because I was so nervous from his last comment. Haha, good luck with yours!

You'll be fine! Pomona just wants to get the big picture of who you are. This will also be the time when you can ask questions about the alum's experience, both at and after Pomona, e.g., what would s/he have done differently, etc.

Good luck!

My interview last year was really relaxed. We met up at a coffee shop and just chatted about random stuff for an hour. The best preperation you can do is relax and make sure you be yourself!

Just be sure to have a pat answer to "Why do you want to go to Pomona?" Also, "What makes you a good fit for Pomona?" Other than that, I would also bring a copy of aplication and essay for interviewer to get a better picture of you. Unless they see these beforehand? ANybody know?

They dodn't really want you to bring anything with you do they, they just want to talk. Thats all we did at the Mudd interview.

The interview is also a time for you to ask questions and learn about the school. They usually will not have seen your application or test scores. Just be yourself and relax. The school just wants to know that you have social skills, are not an ax murderer, and to see if you are a good match for Pomona. It is very relaxed and informal. Best of luck!
