Okay, I'd like to apply to Rice. Would it hurt me/help me?

Plus, I am a huge crier. I get really emotional. Would this be a huge minus in the interview? I've got decent greats, ec's and everything. My crying is what scares me...

Well, I'd suggest you to not cry then...? I don't see any reason why you would during an interview... the interviewer is there to help you get to know the school and to get to know you. They won't attack or insult you, so that's no big worry.

I wish it was that easy to just not cry. I hate crying, but I do anyway whether I want to or not...it's involuntary which worries me...

I would suggest for you to practice with an adult. I did that with my D last year. Most of schools my D applied scheduled an interview with her. It's not good to turn down an interview. It could be view as lack of interest. It's really not that bad. It's usually done by alums, who want to promote their schools. Just try to relax, know why you want to go to the school, know your ECs well, and know some current events. Most interviews don't count that much, except if you totally blow it.
