Interview Invitations

i got an interview invite for UCLA's program, i got hpme last week.

nothing from UCSD yet tho..

**** the rest.

I've got ones from BU and Pennstate

Is BU still sending out invitations?

i would think so since i just got mine today

I just got a call today from BU.
I'm really nervous about HPME and USC! It seems like a lot of people have already been notified...are those on a rolling basis?

Nobody has heard anything about USC yet...dang people are starting to scare me.

I still haven't heard from BU.

I've got an interview request a few days ago for HPME via email, and I have a questions. I've browsed through older posts, but have found no definite answers.

What are the stats regarding acceptance? Out of the 700-800-ish that apply, how many receive an interview and how many ultimately receive acceptances?

i got a call for tcnj/njms a few days ago....interview is in a week...

this is my med interview list:

brown plme - N/A (deferred ed)
nu hpme - no interview yet (they're still sending out interviews, right? i really want one here)
rice/baylor - no interview yet (i really want one here too haha)
washu usp - no interview yet
gwu - no interview yet. (are they still sending out interviews? because i'm kind of upset i haven't heard anything yet)
lehigh/drexel - emailed on jan 23. interview is on feb 11
drexel/drexel - no notification yet, but lehigh/drexel said all drexel med programs have the same interview, so this interview suffices for them (but doesn't necessarily mean i qualified for both i guess)
um hpm - emailed on dec 22. interview is on feb 17
bu/njms - no interview yet. (when all of you are referring to to "BU," are you referring to bu/bu or bu/njms? has bu/njms notified yet? if so, are they still sending them out?)
tcnj/njms - no interview yet (not even the first interview. does everyone get the first one?)

i have a question: because i have bu/njms and tcnj/njms, would i have to interview at njms twice? like i said for drexel/lehigh and drexel/drexel, it's the same interview.

^^^

Holy crap! Im in teh same boat as you... i got the drexel drexel 75 dollar fee thing... and i applied to rice/baylor... hmpe... brown plme rd.... bu/njms... tcnj/njms... njit/njms... rutgers/njms... stevens/njms... gwu med... and have only heard back from njit/njms (they send my file to njms) and drexel/drexel (with the 75 dollar fee thing to sent it to the med school).

My stats are...

and... u only interview at njms once... as is the case with drexel med

you have an interview at NJMS once for all the undergrads you applied through. many see it as redundant to apply to NJMS through so many programs. may increase the chance that your application is forwarded to NJMS, but once it gets to NJMS, your chances are the same. for example, if rutgers, bu, and tcnj all forwarded your application to NJMS, your application is still only going to be review once by NJMS. it would be the same as if only rutgers had sent the application to NJMS. if you were confident enough that at least ONE undergrad would be impressed with you enough to send the application the NJMS, then your chances of getting in are the same regardless of how many you applied to.

bu also has a bu/bu program, so applying to the bu/NJMS program could kind of be considered a "waste" if rutgers had also forwarded the application to NJMS (you were essentially applying to the same program). you could have instead applied to the bu/bu program, which is separate, and given yourself the chance to get into another program.

however, the benefit of applying to NJMS through so many undergrads is that if you get accepted, you can choose which undergrad to go to. however, you can only choose to go to the undergrads that did choose to forward your application to NJMS.

(some might not see this as a benefit because then there's way too many choices to choose from, and you might not be able to make up your mind).

oh wow, you're totally right eraser. i definitely would revise my list if i could change it now haha. i'd probably change bu/njms to bu/bu, among other changes as well. oh well

just had my interview at BU yesterday, waiting to hear from gw, drexel, psu, and nu hpme

karmapigou, was that at BU med school? how'd it go?

it was two interviews: onewith a doctor at the medical school and another with a professor from the college of arts and sciences. it went pretty well, just got an email from jefferson : ]

I just got the email for the RPI supplement... and when i go to do the supplement for AMC it says the deadline has passed... ***?

and to my post earlier that should be a math II 780... not 280 lol

it might not be too late to change for BU. you can give a call into the BU office and ask to be switched to consideration for the other program. i can tell you that it has been done before.

Hmmm....

I've already been contacted by Brown for PLME and had my interview. I thought it went very well. However, I remember reading that Brown's goal is to interview everyone who applies. So, for this program at least, I'm quite certain that getting an interview says absolutely nothing about your chances of acceptance (i.e. does NOT mean you have any greater/less of a chance).
