Students who are applying to UChicago this year may begin expressing interest in alumni interviews through your UChicago Account. You can create or log in to an already created account online here: getstarted.uchicago.edu

Note that we will not begin assigning interviewers to students until later on in the fall, so don't worry if you don't receive communication from your interviewer right away. We've simply opened the request form up a bit earlier to get a better sense of how many students may want an interview and to try and get some things going earlier than in past years.

Also, remember that interviews are not a required portion of our admissions process! We are sometimes unable to accommodate students in areas where we do not have alumni volunteers or enough interviewers to meet demand, so not receiving an interview does not negatively impact your ability to be admitted.

@rockuang we will consider requests for interviews before applications are fully submitted this year, so long as you have created a UChicago account and begun working on the application.

@Snivelus, yes. All applicants should create a UChicago account regardless of whether or not you’re applying through the Common App or Universal App. The UChicago Account is the main portal through which we will communicate directly with you-- this is where you will receive information about alumni interviews, view which materials have been received and processed, and eventually where you will receive your online admissions decision.

I set up my UChicago account. What do I need to do now on there that I can’t do on common app? It seems to want me to set up a profile and upload documents.

Also, will my common app be linked automatically to my UChicago account?

The common app says you can submit a 4th recommendation ie someone outside your school teachers and counselor. Does this recco have to be submitted in hard copy ie couriered to the UChicago admissions office or uploaded in soft copy online.

@UChicago I apologize in advance if this question has been asked several times before:

Will not requesting an interview hurt your chances? There’s one school (which I shall not name here…) also says that interview is optional, and besides that, they say they will treat applicant with and without interview equally. However, this school also ‘reminds’ applicants that students that have had interviews generally have much higher chances of being admitted. The question is: does UChicago recommend student to request an interview? Or the interview request is truly optional for UChicago?
