Interview Timing

Hi,

Recently, I’ve been pondering whether or not the timing of an applicant’s interview has any effect on their admission outcome (i.e. interviewing in the fall as opposed to the winter). I figure that if you interview in early January an interviewer might remember your interaction more vividly while reading through applications, for better or for worse. On the flip side, however, one would hope admissions officers are taking thorough enough notes on interview day to ensure they can recall ample information to make a decision, regardless if how long ago the interaction was. Thoughts?

They are professionals. They take copious notes if not during than after. I don’t think it matters a whit really but I’d honestly give an edge to earlier than later. It shows you are interested and organized and the interviewers will be much fresher and rested (and therefore in a better mood) than they will be at the end of the cycle.

My daughter had interviews every month from September to mid-January. The timing seemed to make no difference in the outcome.

Thanks for replying so quickly, @doschicos & @cameo43! I appreciate your insights.
