I’m going in to interview with my guidance cousnselor so she can write a good recommendation. Any tips?
Prepare a resume or list of activities that you want them to know about. To often you think you will remember something you want to mention but forget.
Also, relax, they are doing this to help you and to write the best letter they can. They are looking to get to know you better and not to judge you.
The guidance counselor is the expert at this, he/ she will know what to ask and what info to gather to write you the best recommendation. They are there to “counsel” you through the college applying process, so you should use them as often as you need to for any questions… Even the question of “any tips” is better address with them.
If you have a resume then bring it along. If you don’t then I don’t think you need to prepare an official resume for the guidance counselor. But it would be worthwhile to type of a list of your major activities, any special accomplishments etc. And if you haven’t done so yet, be ready to discuss what schools you plan to apply to and ask the guidance counselor for advice.
