did anyone get contacted about the optional interview yet?

I haven't. I'll probably get called though, since I live in the suburbs of Philly and there are so many Penn alumni here.

Would a collar shirt and a white shirt underneath be an appropriate top for the interview? What about khaki pants to match? Is there anything else I should do? Ugh! I hope to have a great interview though. (But everyone hopes the same, so I don't know what I'm thinking right now.)

I've been going slightly more formal to interviews - a navy blazer, shirt, tie and khakis or dress pants - it's OK to be somewhat more dressed than the person interviewing you. If you don't have a jacket, don't worry, especially for someone's house. But don't show a Tshirt underneath the collared one!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another idea would be khakis and a sweater - better than the shirt under the shirt idea, I think.

yeah-since most of your interview probably are in the winter, wearing a sweater and khakis would be ideal-and apropriate. just make sure no jeans and t-shirts!!

Please don't wear suits. The interview is supposed to be informal and relaxed. Dress nicely, but don't overdo it.

how do they determine if you get an interview? first come first serve? and if you don't get an interview, does that alter your chances of admission slightly?

I think whether of not you get an interview is most dependent on the # of alumni interviewers in your area. If you are offered one, you definitely should go, but plenty are accepted without them.
