Interview

My interview is being conducted over the phone next week. What kind of questions should I ask?

man i just got phoned for an interview too, except he's local so he wants to meeet..

ahh im so nervous, what should i say to him?!

which schools are you guys applying...... how come i did not received any call..nothing

arts and science for me

I just got a call as well. He said it was informal so I think I may wear a polo shirt and jeans (Are the jeans too informal?). I'll probably just ask questions about his experience at Cornell and what he wishes he knew when he was a freshman.

Don't worry about the interview AT ALL. As long as you don't offend your interviewer things will be fine (if you are in arts and sciences). I was in the same position as you. I used to think this interview mattered. But the truth is they just want to show that Cornell is professional and organized. That's about it.

mikeyc: if you're going to meet with an interviewer, never wear jeans! khakis are nice and the polo is good.
and its almostallover: are you asking what questions the interviewer is likely to ask you or what questions you should ask them?

i want to know what they will ask me
and i want to know how much it matters for the admission process, i mean it has to atleast matter a little (for arts and science), and obviously i wont offend him..
i do have some questions for him though
and just fyi, the person im meeting is a cornell alumni and also a doctor.. ouch, i feel intimidated already

so, theslowclap, are you a cornell student or what?

cornell usually sends the interviewers a list of sample questions. but it depends on the school you applied to

Hansen, when is your interview?

It would be a nice gesture to send him a thank-you note after the interview if you have his e-mail address.

i already had mine and it was nothing to worry about. it was more of a conversation than an interview.

i think they mainly want to see you are a normal person, and give you an opportunity to ask questions.
as far as those go: ask things about your intended major, job opportunities, or if you're comfortable- personal questions. Anything to show an interest in Cornell will probably help.

my interview is this saturday, at his office
i dont know his email address

i just had my interview
it went great
my person actually told me his goal every year was to get his interviewees, namely me, admitted

I'm a spring transfer applicant and had my interview over a month ago in Ithaca. The counselor basically told me the interview is a way to help him advocate for me with the admissions committee. It's a live version of the essay, basically giving them a way to know other things about you that can't readily be found in an application.

dude, im jealous. I applied ED and I havent gotten contacted for an interview yet and I live in the suburbs of LA and there has to be an alumni near me
