I visited Macalester this summer, and did not schedule an interview at that time because I wasn't positive that I was going to apply (I was convinced after the tour). I assumed that when I got home to Boston, I could set up an Alumni interview, but now that I'm looking at Macalester's website, it seems that this is not possible, and my only option is to travel to other highschools in MA and try to get an interview at these places? (Note this all happens next week). I was wondering if anyone had experience with interviews for Macalester, and whether or not it is true that this is my last chance to get an interview. I'm use d to seeing most colleges having the option of alumni interviews, so I wasn't sure about this situation. Any help would be great!

Daughter did not have an interview at Macalester, nor did she have the opportunity to visit the campus prior to the admitted student event we attended in the spring. She is now a freshman at Mac and loves it. Do what you can to interview locally, but if it is too challenging to put that together, don't stress. Interviews are optional. They are wonderful for allowing you to express your strengths and interests and assist reps in putting a face and your talents with your name, BUT! Your strengths will come through on your application and in your essays as well, so the interview is just extra frosting. Good luck!

Your post mentions Boston. The Mac admissions site shows four locations in Boston where their representative will be in the next week, in case you were unaware that she will actually be in the city. I'll post those dates and locations below. Hope one of them works out for you, or it could also be possible that since she clearly will be staying in the area she might be available to meet you for coffee or something at a better time for you. Call the admissions office or email Lisa Bramlet directly to set something up. Her email address is on the website.

Thank you for your help! I called admissions today and they're going to try and set up an alumni interview for me, since apparently I can't get an interview at any of those high schools that the admissions rep is visiting.

I'm happy to hear it! Hope all goes well and that you have great success not only with your interview but with the outcome of your application!
