Interview

My son got his application in at the deadline and just received his portal password. I understand that things were a bit screwy this year. Our concern is that he hasn't heard anything about an interview. It would seem that it's getting late and all his other interviews were weeks ago. Does Penn still interview all applicants? Are they still interviewing? Should we be worried?

Since when did Penn ever interview all applicants? I was of the understanding that they interview as many applicants as possible, but the pool is so large that not everyone receives one. I haven’t been contacted for an interview (I applied RD to Penn) yet, and by this point, I’m banking on not getting one. It really doesn’t matter much.

Straight from the adcom:

Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do to facilitate the interview process on your behalf. I understand your eagerness, but in any given year only about one half of our applicants actually have interviews. Our volunteer alumni are loyal but there are only so many of them. Rest assured that if you are not eventually contacted for an interview it will not have an impact on your application.

I’m pretty sure that the deadline to get all interview reports in was Feb 22nd or around that date, so those of us that haven’t been contacted for one are not going to be. No worries, though. :)

I didn’t get an interview either, but eh.

I didn’t get an interview either, so I guess none of us are totally excluded.

I guess Penn has been pretty erratic with the PennPortal/interview this year… hopefully they’ll dish out a few acceptances for us (overeager) hopefuls.

i was JUST contacted for an interview today haha… it actually sucks because i’d thought i was completely finished with college stuff. free to sit back relax and wait it out until my decisions come haha… but NO there is still more to do. i’m having my interview tomorrow! honestly though, i don’t think interviews make any difference at all. unless you convince your interviewer that you’re a freak that people would be unable to live with… and that won’t happen. hopefully.
