Haven't been contacted for an interview?

Not trying to be paranoid, just seeing how many other people are in the same boat as me. I live in the suburbs of Philly, so I thought there would be a lot of alumni in this area. I know two students at my school who have been contacted for an interview, so I'm just getting a little anxious.

Any previous students receive an offer to interview in late February/March?

havent received one either, live in long island, ny. thought there’d be tons of alumni here too…

I live in the DC metro area and was just contacted a week ago for an interview, so I don’t think it’s too late just yet!

haven’t gotten one either… i called penn and they checked for me. apparently i haven’t even been assigned an alumni. they said only half the applicants get a chance for an interview.

^lol, yeah, the half that they’re interested in. I too am not in that half.

lol, they tell us it’s random… but being the paranoid potential-college kids that we are, i cannot help but worry =(

I was only offered an interview about a week ago and had it last Thursday. One of my friends who goes to my school was offered an interview by the same person for Thursday. Another friend of mine who goes to our school was not offered an interview at all and he is pretty even with us in terms of everything.

So late interviews do happen, and I wouldn’t worry about it if I were you if you didn’t get one! (Yeah I know that is impossible right now! )

Is it true that they have a maximum number of people they will interview per school?

Does anyone know if maybe the interviews really are random? Or is there really a pattern?

I wouldn’t worry about the interviews, both me and a friend got in ed without one this year. Good luck guys :)

I live in Philly, but I haven’t been contacted either. My friend was contacted. :[

alright thanks everyone for responding!

Hopefully I can just do my best to just forget about college for the next month…until March 31st/April 1st of course.

Good luck to everyone, with or without an interview!

Oh, and congrats to you and your friend on getting into Penn :)

Don’t worry about it too much. I never got contacted for an interview during ED and I got in.

Yeah I’m worried. One girl in my class got an interview and her grades and SATs are MUCH higher than mine so I think it has to do with how interested they are in you.
I’m really upset because I really want to go to Penn :frowning:
Superior people… grr…

Well, I’m gonna settle some differences here. I really don’t think it has something to do with interest, just the availability of alumni.
two reasons.

  1. I got contacted for an interview, and I can ASSURE you that I am NOT qualified for Upenn. lol. It is a reach above reach beyond the normal reach.
  2. I live in NYC, and most if not all of my the fellow Penn applicants in my school got interviews, so since NYC is where a lot of the alumni are, we got interviews. that’s one correlation.
So, I wouldn’t worry about receiving interviews.

Dude futurephysician did you even read my post…

idk my parents are all like “evidently they want nothing to do with you” because the person in charge of my region lives down the street from me >.<

^ Your parents are wrong. It doesn’t really matter if the person lives down the street from you because the interviewer himself doesn’t know you live down the street from him/her; unless you personally know them or something. Interviewers get a list of names of applicants in their region, and they randomly pick people from the list to interview.

Link to a post I wrote in a different thread that is exactly related to this concern of not getting contacted for an interview: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/1064160087-post8.html</a> It doesn’t matter if that girl had super SAT scores futurephysician. I had super low SAT scores and got an interview, while my friends had great SAT scores and didn’t get interviews (all our ECs are good) - but we all still got in.
