Interview

My interviewer seemed really interested in me and I guess I connected with him because I made him laugh once or twice. Also, I interviewed for like an hour and we had to stop cause he ran out of time, so that must be good.
Does that mean anything?

You know what it means…you had a great interview.
How was the rest of your visit?

Agree with svm. My daughter had 3 amazing interviews. All for close to an hour. All said how much they would love to see her attend their schools. Her 4th was just so-so. In the end, she was accepted at 2 and waitlisted at 2. The two best interviews were the ones that wl her. We were shocked. She even considered one of the two as her safety school. (I think in another economy it might have been, but FA probably played a role. But I am digressing). I think interviewers have a great gift at making each kid feel remarkable and I am glad you had such a positive interview, but I caution you to read too much into it. Keep plugging away to make your whole package remarkable.
Good luck.

ZuZu is zo right! Without a lot of life experience, it’s hard for a kid to discern the connection between a warm, enthusiastic interview and actual admission. There are dozens of kids who leave those interviews with similarly positive experiences. It’s a great component of the “whole package,” but unfortunately it’s just a component and there are a ton of equally skilled competitors with strong portfolios.

The advice I gave to my son over and over again:

nothing is ever as good or as bad as it seems,

don’t waste energy worrying about the competition

be yourself at all times

smile, firm handshake, good eye contact,

enjoy every moment of the experience

My visit was awesome, I could really picture myself at Andover. And my tour guide seemed really communicative and gave me a lot of info. But, the interviewer didn’t say please apply or anything, he just said you are really good kid again and again and said good luck in the app. season. My parents said he said really good things about me tho.
