Is anyone else extremely worried? I always think my face looks weird when I talk to adults I don't know. Anyone have any suggestions on how to seem cool and collected even though I, and I imagine others, will be extremely nervous

Sure! I have had several interviews (non-college-related), but they're really all the same. The truth is, the only way to seem cool and collected is to BE cool and collected. To do this, have a plan in mind regarding why Yale is where you want to be, why Yale should want you, and what contributions you can make. After an interview for a high school sports team captain, the interviewers told me that I had the best interview because I had an answer for everything--not quick, random thoughts but rather well thought out, well articulated statements. Another thing--eye contact is crucial. Maybe that's just me, but I always feel like I need to connect with the person I am talking with--let them know you care. This is how to make a good impression and express yourself. So, relax. If you know yourself, you can rock at this interview!

they arent that bad. i had a quite informal interview for a volunteering position this summer. really, when you start talking, you can REALLY go on for awhile.

Very true...

ah i love interviews. i love the parts of the app process that most people hate: interviews and essays. :)
