Interviews?

Hey guys--

I'll be interviewing at Smith in the next few weeks and was just wondering what to expect. I've yet to do any interviews, but I've heard college ones tend to be either informational, which is more like a mini-information session, or evaluative. Where does Smith fall on the scale between the two? What else can you tell me about the general experience?

Thanks!

Hey! i had my interview last week. it was great. she gave me the chance to ask questions but Id still stay it was more evaluative than anything. it was about half an hour. Mine was with an admissions officer but yours could be with a senior..I think its all chance. Good luck!

My interview was on-campus with an admissions officer. I agree with salyca, it ended up being more about me and who I am than about Smith and what it's like. Still, definitely come with questions about Smith--show you've done your research and all that. Mine was actually longer than a half hour, and the lady was very honest and nice with me. Asked me about various experiences, school classes, interests, ECs, etc.

I also brought a resume. I think those help, since they can glance back at it when they're writing up stuff about the interview for your file.

I interviewed last year when I visited Smith.

My interview was more of a casual conversation than anything, I spoke with an admissions officer and she was super nice.

Before I went in they had me fill out a sheet listing my extracurricular activities, where I from, etc. I didn't bring anything with me when I went. My interview was really long (at least an hour I think), but I like talking :). From what I remember they asked me a few things about Smith (why I wanted to come, how I heard about Smith, etc). But the majority of it was just talking about my interests and some of my extra curricular activities.

Don't stress out too much about it, it's mainly just an informal conversation.

lamariposaazul, do you go to Smith or did you have your interview this year like me?
I forgot to bring a resume/transcript bur I'm mailing a resume with my recommendations and all that stuff. I'm applying ED btw, are you guys?
I just submitted my application last night, I'm so nervous!
I hope we get in!

and I'm a little relieved arashic, b/c you didn't bring a resume and you got in so it's not's a do or die type deal. whew!
