interviews

does cornell do interviews?
do they contact you or vice versa

thanks!!

Yes, definitely expect an interview. I was contacted by cell phone and it was done about an hour later. It went really well and was more of an info session.

I got emailed. I agree, it was more like an info session, and it turned out I actually knew the teacher who interviewed me so it was actually really nice.

don't sweat the interview ... its not formal at all.

The interview is mostly so you can ask an alum questions about the school. They don't really consider it in the application process.

they reach you i believe.
it can be informative.

does anyone know what "importance" this interview plays?? I was called for one and went, but a friend who applied same time as me has not had a call. We both want to attend, but my friend is worried because of no call and thinks that he may be excluded because of this. I don't think so...does anyone know?

The "interview" is purely informative for the applicant. Only Hotel and AAP applicants have required formal interviews. For all other applicants, you may be contacted about an informal meeting with an alum if there is someone available in your area. Because there are not alumni ambassadors in all areas, not every applicant can be offered a meeting. That's why the alumni "interviews" don't count in terms of admissions decisions.
