interviews

im trying to apply for ED for Johns Hopkins
should i consider an interview with an admission staff or alumni?
would it help my chances of getting in if i give them a good impression?
can it also harm my chances if i dont answer the questions and do poorly on the interview?
also, should i visit the campus before the ED deadline?

Interviews are optional and mostly just informational. If you interview on-campus you will not meet with an admissions staff member but rather a trained upperclass student known as an AR (Admissions representative). If you interview off-campus then that will be with a trained alum, and I know there will be online request form in September for alum interviews.

From what I have heard, if you do choose to interview it will not have much overall effect on how your app is reviewed as interviews are not formally evaluative. However your interviewer will complete a write-up after your interview that is added to your app file and therefore the adcom will see this information. So if you do really well or do really bad it will have some impact.

And yes, you should visit the campus -- it is a great place.
