Int'l Finance Help? want to help reduce my parents' expense

hi I'm international student who just got accepted to Cornell ED, class of 09.
DID NOT apply for financial aid (probably a major reason that got me in)

I'm wondering--once I will be in college--what kind of things will be available to int'l student in order to help reduce the expense? Can int'l student work for college jobs, outside restaurants (legally of-course), and whatnot?

Cost at around $50,000 per year is a lot for any int'l students who pays full--how will they be able to cope with this?

any non-binding scholarships of any kind that i'm unaware of? please suggest.

Can i apply for any scholarships once I'm a studnet at Cornell?

P.S. I know I have declared to Cornell that I will not have problems with financial issues--i turned in the finance forms, bank statements and stuffs-- i just want to know--if there're any ways--how i can help reduce my parents' expense..

Thank you.

Most of the times, a student can get a job on campus and earn their living expenses. That in addition to your summer earning can provide you some relief as well.
The one thing you will have do some research on is the availabillity of jobs at Cornell. As you probably know, Cornell is in middle of nowhere and the jobs are limited to oncampus jobs, where graduate students get a preference over us.
The other thing that you might want to explore is merit based scholarships, if they have any.

Go to Petersons.com or peterson.com ( either one dont remember which ) and run their scholarship search. Takes time to fill out everything but stil worth it.

................................... ( sorry forgot to disable instant notification )

campus job can bring you about $2000 a year, which can cover your living expenses (excluding room and board) only. You can't rely much on it. I know that colleges usually have scholarships for outstanding students, they're after your freshman year, or at least your first semester.

whoa! $50,000, that's a LOT. and i mean, a LOT!!! they must be crazy to provide you with no financial aid.

cornell provides meager financial aid to int'l students.

why did you apply to Cornell without Financial aid if you couldn't afford it without being a burden on your parent?

maybe you can get out of the ED clause by saying your financial status has changed and apply to some other place.

nono boomer, u got the wrong point.
my fin. status for my parents is still okay---i think, but it's unpredictable, u know...esp. the big-time tsunami incidents in thailand...affecting economics and etc.

I just want to help reduce my parents' expense..if any chance allows.. it'd be good to get some support from other source than my parents alone. I know it's damn competive to apply to top schools and ask for their fin. aid at the same time.

campus job is a good pt. I'll try...thanks pple for your responses..appreciate it.
has anyone try searching for those scholarships at petersons.com--does that really work?

I had a look at petersons.com.

It came up with 65 scholarships for me after I filled out a form.

Most weren't relevant or were very specific on eligibility.

I found one that I could apply to which requirres an essay.

It's worth taking a look, even if you can only find a couple.

Yep,Cornell is indeed a miser to international students.A friend of mine got in last year but with no aid. She's not gonna pay that much for undergraduate education so she headed to Canada, where the education is of great quality but at a much affordable price.
