I got um almost full aid from Wellesley College and Smith College in MA.
They are very very very generous.

I would also check out HYP+Williams.
I heard that Stanford and Amherst are planning on becoming need-blind to internationals.
If you are truly exceptional, you should be able to get need-based aid from most schools (except for really stingy schools that clearly state that they don't give out aid to international students).
Oh, HYP+Williams are need-blind, but they are super competitive :P

"(except for really stingy schools that clearly state that they don't give out aid to international students)" lol... but there are schools who do that

congrats dinosaurrawr!! do u know if some of the other LACs are also as generous??

congrats to u too flowertje!! all your schools are very generous! well, except for maybe dartmouth... it's amazing that you got into so many incredibly selective colleges!!

hi flowertje, those are some great packages, i hope you don't mind me asking what country you are a citizen of (and which country you live in right now?)

thanks a gazillion, i don't know if it it will actually effect me, but its always good to know and compare a bit ... hehe

Hey all! I got into Davidson College and receive financial aid, but I still have to pay 3k per year, do you think my fin-aid package could increase next year?

highvoltage, 3k a year is a really nominal amount as it is... so i doubt there would be any change lest there be some sudden extenuating circumstances that your family finds itself in.

i got into franklin and marshall with a 34,000 dollar scolarship[ per year. also got into bard with 20,000 and hampshire with 28,000. i hear that Macalester is good at giving financial aid for int. stud's and so are amherst and brandeis. also St. lawrence is pretty good if you have a 3.7 gpa or higher. hope this helps.

oh, i forgot to mention my finaid packages. connecticut college offered me 43,000 in grants (i need to pay 4500, via parent contribution and work-study), while bates offered 40,500 in grants (no loans either, but i need to pay nearly 6000).

I think Lafayette (did I get the spelling right?) focuses on engineering...and Im sure they offer great aids. Each year about 4 students from my country are accepted with 95% full need aid...you should take a look ^^

yeah consider lafayette, swarthmore and harvey mudd college (dun think they r very generous with aid, but they do give out entrance scholarships based on SAT scores).

got a half-tuition scholarship from USC for engineering. not a lot, but hey, it's a very good deal from a school that offers no need-based aid to international students.

colgate.. 40,000$ aid, parent contribution 3000$ and work study 2600$..

be sure to check out whether ur aid covers the increase in cost every year which can be a substantial amt.. (colgate's does).. many colleges expect u to meet the increase in costs.. be sure to check it out

For the application fee, get ur counsellor to write a letter about ur diffuculty in paying the fees and it will be waived.

Got into Amherst. I got about 48k in aid so I guess I should be able to manage my own contribution. I'm so lucky. Heaven knows I would never have been able to pay 50k a year.

The great thing is that the aid us usually renewable if it is need based and in most cases (including Amherst's) the college will increase your grant if it fees increase in subsequent years.

I consider myself rather fotunate, judging from the extreme competition amongst International Student for finniacial aid. My financial aid packages are as follow:

Cornell's Financial aid package per year consists of:
$23000 grant
$1800 Work-Study
$3200 Loan

Columbia's Financial Aid pacakge per year consists of:
$28000 Grant
$2000 Workstudy

University of Virginia's Financial Aid package
ZERO, ZIP, NADA, NOTHING-no finiacial aid for internationals

I dont think I need to tell you where I am going :)
