<p>Don't believe everything you read on the web. The college application scene has become very competitive. The Ivies have to turn away a lot of highly qualified candidates with high SAT scores. For HYP (1400-1560),the majority of the candidates scored above 700-750 in their verbal and math. For Dartmouth (1360-155), barely 7% of the incoming freshmen (75 out of 1100) have verbal scores below 600.</p>
<p>You are also competing with those overseas students I mentioned .. with SAT scores above 1450 or even 1500. Guess what, they all have near perfect SAT II scores too.</p>
<p>The TOEFL is a joke at this level. Most of these students score above 270-280 in their first try.</p>
<p>If you have low verbal but high writing score, you might be ok. But if both are subpar, you are not competitive at this level. I'd recommend that you re-take the SAT. You may wanna try the ACT too...some people find it easier to score higher on the English/Reading sections.</p>
