I'm going to be a freshman at Pitt, and I hear that the winters there can be pretty brutal, in terms of snow and wind. I'm from NJ, so I'm no stranger to the cold and snow, but my parents think that I should get a good pair of Timberlands, so that I could walk to class without having to get my sneakers destroyed. I was just thinking of bringing the snow boots that I have from last year. Should I just bring both?

I go to Michigan and I got a $200break pair of Eccos (I think ) and I plan on having them for years to come.

You’ll wear them a lot, so you might as well put some money into them.

Bean boots! They last forever, look good, and work amazingly.

It’s a pretty bad investment. No one is going to want your boots after you get done with wearing them. They will definitely lose value over time.

how about some uggos?

invest in some durable boots. Don’t worry about them being fashionable or expensive. Just worry about comfort and the usage.

I thought Timberlands were primarily for heavy duty hiking, not necessarily for snowy/rainy college campuses.

SoCal mom here with a DS going off to Philly…the ‘duck boots’ look a bit old fashioned to me…what say the Midwestern guys to something like this?

Uggs keep your feet warm and do well in the snow and rain.

get comfortbale boots, which will lost a long time

You could get by on your old snow boots if you want. I’m also from New England and have survived with just sneakers throughout the long winter. Pittsburgh shouldn’t be much different.
