Anyone who currently attends Northeastern, get any good Finance/Investment Banking Coops?
@novafan1225 is a current business student on here who knows that world well - He should be able to post here soon enough.
Busted. I work in Big 4, and our placement in that scene is excellent. My roommate works at BCG, which is incredible; friends of mine work at MFS, Bain, Wellington, Harvard Management Co., etc. I know several people indirectly who have co-oped or are currently working at Morgan Stanley, BoA, Hercules Technology Growth Capital, Credit Suisse, and smaller boutique investment firms but as is true in any situation, the investment banking opportunities are insanely competitive and really only go to the absolute cream of the crop. It doesn’t hurt if you know someone in the business either, obviously.
All things being equal, HYPSM/etc. are obviously going to have an easier path to the world of IBanking. That’s just how the industry is. However, assuming you’re not attending one of those schools and are at Northeastern, I do genuinely believe our placement at IBanks is significantly better than peer schools or even top 20/30 schools outside of Ivies. Co-op really is a huge boost. So, while we will never compare to Ivy level prestige, for where we go we do outstandingly well.
Thanks for the insight
