Anybody know of any investment banking internship opportunities in LA?

Just find a company you would like to work with, write to them and ask if its even possible. Tell them why you are interested, and what you can do to help their company. If someone loves thier job, he will be extremely happy to show a person what his occupation is actually like. I got an internship at Merrill Lynch this summer as a high school senior by writing to them, when normally only take people from college. I did reasearch for them, and presented a few stocks lesser known that I thought they should look at during the future. I also assisted in other aspects that consisted more of busy work, but overall I thought it was a great experience.

I got into one this summer, but it was unpaid even though thats not the reason why I rejected it. (I was a junior by the way, Im going to be a senior next)

I was the guy in an old thread that had to choose between 4 internships I got accepted to. Right now Im an intern at Chiron because I felt I could receive a better corporate environment.

I sort of regret turning down an investment banking internship, but little did I know I was doing muay thai kickboxing over this summer and I met a guy that works for MORGAN AND STANLEY that offered me an internship!!! Funny because I knew the guy for less than an hour, then again he was surprised that a 16 year old has his own business card.

Its definitely possible. However you really need to go out and try and get contacts and people who will support you and give your app the push. Its tough and yes you do need some luck.

When applying for an internship, though, will investment banks care that you've taken some econ/finance/management courses in your first year at college? Will your GPA also matter or is it just your personality that helps you get internships?
