Hello CC, this is my first post. I'm a smart kid, but due to financial issues, I am currently a first year student at SMC. I will be applying to Claremont McKenna, Pomona College, and UC Berkeley for Economics, as well as UCI and UCLA for Business Administration/Biz Econ, respectably. I have a lot of desired career paths, from Accountant to Consultant to I-Banker to Talent Agent. Through connections I recently lined up an internship at a mid sized investment firm in Los Angeles over the summer, but I am scheduled to take an accounting course at the time-I fear it will affect my GPA. I know that GPA has a lot to do with transferring as well as getting hired in the business world. Would taking the internship be worth the possible grade drop?

Be glad that you got an internship first of all.

I can't even do that..and I am a sophomore.

Arrange your schedule in such a way that you could take the internship. They are very rare these days, and people look at experience in addition to degree.

Take the internship...first-year accounting classes are more than cake...or would it be less than cake? Either way, they are easy.

Okay, I think I'll take the internship, and try to schedule the class accordingly. Does anyone know what the internship may entail?

Answering phones, data entry, fetch lunches, coffee. Not kidding.

Haha, I figured it would be something like that. Goodbye house parties, hello vanilla lattes. Joy. :]
