@Mumstheword2, I’m not certain on GEs. I know he tested out of freshman English, but I don’t know where his other APs went other than his STEM classes. I don’t have (nor do I want) access to his student portal, so I can’t look it up either. What I can tell you is that the advisors are very good at using AP/IB and dual enrollment credit as efficiently as possible.

@newapplicant two years ago they only looked at AP Calc scores from senior year for enrollment in honors calc 3 (math 143). My daughter received a 5 on the AP Calc AB/BC test her junior year, but was not invited to the honors section of calc 3 (they did give her credit for calc 1 & 2 and block schedule her into a normal calc 3 class). She contacted the honors professor and he told her he would give her a permission code to add the honors class since it was an oversight that they did not consider junior year AP scores. I don’t know if that has changed; it was sometime in the summer that she found out others had been invited. She decided to stay in her normal class and had a professor who has become a mentor to her throughout her years at CP.
@caligirl14 Thank you for the info. I will keep this in mind.
On the application, if we mark we are interested in the Honors dorm, does that mean if accepted into the program we HAVE to live there? I love the program but I am not sure if I want to live in an honors dorm or a regular dorm yet.
the capstone project that the Honors Program requires is just taking the senior project that every major requires you to do and then putting it on a poster (if it isn’t already in that format) and presenting it to your peers during the Senior Showcase. Not much if any extra work, just a way to recognize and share your work with others. The Honors Program is continually getting new classes added to their offerings in all different areas. They have tons of GE’s many of which EVERY major has to take. They also offer other ways to get Honors credit, like studying abroad, doing certain community service projects, or having an internship. They are more than willing to work with students to help them maintain the GPA requirements.
@nmg7215 I know this is a late response, but just for others to know: No, you don’t have to live in an Honors Housing if you are in the Honors Program. We encourage you to live in Honors Housing because it is a community of peers who will likely be in your classes and are equally as committed to academic success, we hold fun events in the Honors Housing community center, and apartment style housing is a great alternative to the classic college dorm. However, it is not required to live there, and Honors students can still attend our fun Housing events regardless of where they live! Hope this helps.
