Has anyone gotten the “Invitation to Excellence 2007” visit invitation yet? It is suppose to be held in Nov. 9 and 10.

Are you asking because you haven't received one, or because you want to know who else is going?

Well my S is in the process of applying to Baylor but he has not submitted the application on-line. He has not received an invitation yet and he is a NMSF.

Are you on the mailing list? If not, that's why you didn't receive one. (I'm not sure they've sent them out, but they probably have.) Get on the mailing list, then contact the school to get an invitation. That's what I did, as I didn't start thinking about Baylor until pretty late, and thus didn't hear about I2E until later.

BookAddict, thank you very much.

I'm a Bear Hunter for Baylor, and our son is a NMSF. Invitation to Excellence invitations went out last week. They only go to students already on Baylor's contact list who are NMSF's. Definitely go to website at www.baylor.edu/admissions and join the mailing list. The dates are November 9, 10. You could also probably call 1-800-BAYLORU, select admissions and speak with someone about it. Good luck!

Hi CaNMom, I have contacted Baylor through e-mail last Wednesday. Hopefully my son will get an invitation in the mail soon. Shall I call Baylor to see if the invitation was sent? Thank you.

I would call too. That will let them know your level of interest.

S got the invitation today. Thank you for the help.

No problem, leungpy1. I'm glad he got the invitation. Maybe I'll see you there. Is your s going to stay in the Living and Learning Center?

CANMom, he has not replied so accomodation arrangement has not been made. We will get that done this weekend. Thank you for your helpful information. One question concerning travel, will flying to DFW and drive better or flying to Waco after a stop at DFW better?

Driving from Dallas is probably the best choice if you can't fly directly to Waco. The drive from the DFW airport to Baylor will take about 1.5 hours. I imagine layover, connecting flight, and getting to campus would take longer. Baylor is on I-35, the highway from Dallas. The Waco airport is not near the campus. Good luck with your travel arrangements.

The Waco airport is actually fairly close to the campus, but I guess "close" is relative. It takes about 20 minutes to get there. I've found it takes about the same time to get to Baylor after flying into Dallas or Waco.

The Waco airport is really small, which is nice because it means you don't have to get there too early (for your flight back). I fly out of Waco whenever I can, if it's not too much more expensive. It's so much easier than driving to Dallas, and there's free parking (which is something to remember if your S ends up going to Baylor).

And I definitely recommend staying in the dorm for the night if it's possible. However, even if he doesn't stay in the Living Learning Center overnight, I recommend going to the dorm and visiting (they have a game night, and you can talk to current students) and then they will shuttle him back to the hotel (unless they've changed it from the past two years).

I hope he enjoys the weekend! I2E was a HUGE factor when I made my decision to come to Baylor (it was the only time I visited the campus before I moved in), and last year, I hosted a student in my room, which was also a ton of fun!

Thank you CANMom and BookAddict for the information. Base on the material we received, Baylor is going to pay for our Friday night accomodation. Will that mean they pay for a one night stay for the family in the hotel? If my S comes by himself, can arrangement be made for him to be pick up or take a shuttle to campus?

My dd is going and she found out tonight that she just got officially accepted. Yea.

My son is also going to Baylor Invitation to Excellence. He also found out yesterday (via text message on his cell phone) that he has been accepted. Times have changed!

Congrats on getting accepted, all!

While I don't live in Memorial this year and thus can't host a student, I'll be going to the reception from 4-5 on Friday. Maybe I'll see you there!
